.: Göran Fagerström,
SM0DRD
Göran Fagerström, SM0DRD, was licensed in 1962 and soon became
interested in contesting, working from several Swedish club stations. He joined
the NCCC in 1983 while getting a Master's in Computer Science and Computer
Engineering at Stanford University, somehow managing to find time between exams
to participate enthusiastically in contests with other club members. Göran is a
member of Kvarnberget Amateur Radio Club (SK0UX, SK0X) and was the developer for
a prototype system for making qsls available online over the then not so widely
used Internet. This prompted the ARRL into its Logbook of the World concept much
later. He also participated in a joint Swedish-Cuban contest expedition in 1997
(T49C, T48RCT). To everyone's amazement at the time, qsls were made available on
the Internet very soon after the contacts. Teaming up with the crowd at KH6LC,
Göran has visited Hawaii frequently in the last years to participate in the CQWW
and ARRL DX contests, and also running the Sweepstakes single-op, where he
achieved 6th place in the cw unlimited class in 2008. Göran is a book publisher
and translator between English and Swedish and also helps prospective authors
with improving their scripts and self-publishing.
